I quite enjoyed the ‘Moving On’ single and I quite enjoy this, In Gratitude‘s debut EP, too. It has a really warm, familiar feel to it, but I can’t exactly pinpoint which bands they sound like. The vocals at times are a little too ethereal, such as on ‘Delirious’, but I’m nitpicking about a band that are seriously on the verge of something really, really special indeed.
This EP consists of six tracks, five ‘normal’ songs and a remix. They’re different enough to whet the apetite for a full album and that’s all you can ask from an EP. The record actually gets off to a stuttering start as ‘Prosperity’, which perhaps has a little bit of a Bloc Party-esque feel to it, takes a few listens to get into, whereas the massive ‘Moving On’ is much more anthemic and clicks straight away. The stripped down, electronica start of ‘Always’ envokes memories of Get Cape Wear Cape Fly too, which is welcome. The chorus is particularly strong with really good use of backing vocals to pick up some strong harmonies. It’s the sound of a band finding their niche and carving it open nicely. In Gratitude are certainly ones to watch.
