Hey, welcome to 2004. It’s a land where bands like to scream and shout their way across everything; metal bands shred their riffs, hardcore bands drop their D to a B and break it down. And emo kids sing some melodies and chuck a few screams in for good measure.
Yeah, I thought we’d gone past all that too, but In Fear and Faith have different ideas. To be fair to them ‘Imperial’ isn’t actually that bad, it’s just bereft of anything new and original. Bands have been doing this type of thing for years and years and years and I’m personally more than fed up of it. Still, there’s the odd decent track here which made reviewing it relatively enjoyable, but I don’t imagine picking this up again for a listen out of pleasure. In a way they remind me of Armsbendback or a less catchy A Day To Remember and bands of the Trustkill stable a few years ago. If you haven’t grown out of that, you’ll love this. The rest of us? Good for a passing listen but you’ll be screaming for something more substantial before too long…
