Hooray For Me – 3-track demo

By paul

There seems to be a few bands coming out of the woodwork with well produced melodic rock records now – the Misnomer, Carcrashburn and Day Of Rising are three that have impressed me in the last six months and now Hooray For Me have unleashed three new demo songs which stand out from the pack. A four-piece from the same patch as Fastlane, Hooray For Me have refined their sound and ditched the sillier pop-punk elements of their songs into a melodic haven of pop-rock efforts, complete with catchy choruses and extremely strong melodies. Think Spitalfield, Jimmy Eat World and bands of that ilk.

All three songs on this sampler are excellent; they all follow similar patterns yet remain catchy and will have you tapping along in no time. The cracking ‘Autumn Eyes‘ is arguably the standout, a sweet hook and some cracking vocals really drawing you in. In previous years I’ve felt this is a type of music that UK artists struggle to compete with their US counterparts, but as long as bands such as this record songs as good as these, the future is in very good hands indeed.
