Go Betty Go – Nothing Is More

By paul

In theory, this should work pretty well. I like good female vocalists, so throw in some turbo-charged melodies and edgy pop-punk riffs and you should come out with a heady concoction that, potentially, could welcome in an army of new fans. Sadly, Go Betty Go can’t manage that at all. ‘Nothing Is More’ is really, really bland. The opening two songs meander through without any power, speed or energy, but for me its the lack of vocal power or presence that lets the band down. There’s no identity, so as such it’s pretty soulless.

There are some good songs here mind, ‘Get Out’ pushes the accelerator pedal down and feels better for it, but the vocals again don’t really make any impression on me. ‘Runaway’ is half-decent too, but again lacks any kind of spark. Overall this is a bit of a let down. I’d not heard any Go Betty Go before and I don’t really think I’ll be too bothered if I don’t hear any again.
