From Plan To Progress – Bombs, Towns and Chords

By paul

BLAM – as the machine gun drumming during ‘Whitney Houston We Have A problem’ blasts at 200mph

THWACK – as the Billie-Joe-esque sneer during the CD’s title track will have you singing along in no time.

KAPOW – as the band leading you into a bout of finger pointing and all round rocking.

Enough of the pointless Batman analogies, From plan To progress are fucking great. Six songs and just over seven minutes, this West Sussex mob’s latest self-release is awesome. I accidentally misplaced their last record and I’m glad the band sent me another. This is the kind of music that ot me into punk in the first place – melodic, fast, furious and lots of fun.

Every song is a highlight, I guess FPTP sound like all the classic skate-punk bands of the late 90s with a nice melodic twist, throwing in speedy guitar riffs and gang vocals aplenty. At a shade over seven minutes this doesn’t outstay its welcome either, infact it actually leaves you gagging for more. Peter Miles’ production adds an extra layer to the warm sound the band naturally generate, leaving every song a winner. I don’t need to say any more, just go ahead and listen for yourself…
