For The Common Wealth – This Is Where I’ve Been

By paul

This album is entirely self written, recorded, and produced by the looks of things so credit where credit is due it’s a great achievement. But unfortunately it’s a bit bland and insipid. There are 11 tracks here, which more or less sound the same. I listened to this 7 times through in a row and did not recognise a single song on any listen. It’s perfectly pleasant laid back synthy indie pop and fine background music, but there is no lasting impression, nothing in the way of hooks or chrouses to keep you interested.

There are some nice little melodies tucked away in places, but the songs are overlong (mostly > 4 minutes) and you get the impression that with a band behind him this chap with be far better off. More editors, more ideas and more variety would probably make for a far more interesting listen.
