Firefly has split up since sending this demo in. I don’t know the reasons why, but if I’m perfectly honest then I don’t think too many people will cry and mourn the loss. ‘Everyone’s A Winner’ is their parting ‘gift’ to the world, a badly recorded 12-track record with some of the worst song names ever. ‘Anal Sex’, ‘Young, Free and Inbred’ and the aptly-named ‘I Can’t Write Songs’ show just how immature this band are, which may be fun when you’re pissed and stood at a bar, but when you have to review it? No thanks.
It’s difficult to be nice about this CD to be honest. The ‘singing’ is appalling, the backing vocals so terribly out of tune and the guitars and drums are pretty basic too. Oh, and there are more parts out of time than in. Tracks like ‘Stalker’ and the aforementioned ‘Anal Sex’ are absolutely awful, awful songs that should never have made it out of the studio. Sorry guys, but this is a terrible record. If it’s not the worst demo we have ever received, it’s not far off. There’s not one single thing about this CD that would suggest any kind of lasting career in the music world. I think giving up may well have been for the best. According to the album title, ‘everyone’s a winner’. I’m not – I had to listen to this thing.
