Exit4 – An Ordinary Tragedy

By paul

Exit4 are a US pop-punk band who know their limitations; they don’t throw in overblown solos, they stick to the verse/chorus/verse formula and they keep synths and samples well away. They’re a steady rock band with slick melodies and ‘An ordinary Tragedy’ reflects this. It’s a record that switches from good songs to average songs without ever being brilliant or poor. Recorded by members of Army of Freshmen there’s a slight comparison to be made between the two bands. ‘A Time Like This’ and ‘No Man’s An Island’ are very good songs, probably the best two on the record, but they’re surrounded by a few average tracks that don’t quite live up to them. There are better and worse bands around than Exit4 so give them a chance and make up your own mind.
