Eat Sleep Attack is the acoustic musings of ex-Fleeing From Finales and Clarkson vocalist, Sam Little. In his own words, Little writes ‘those ridiculously cheesy pop songs that you love, the ones you secretly listen to on repeat while you tell everyone else you listen to something cooler’. He’s right about the first part, but after a few listens to this EP, you’ll be telling everyone you know about Eat Sleep Attack. This is a guilty pleasure, without the guilt.
If you were ever a Fleeing From Finales fan, you won’t need to be told just how talented a vocalist Sam is. There’s a somewhat boyband quality to his voice in that it’ll appeal to the little sisters and the middle-aged parents of the nation as much as it will to the teens and the twenty-somethings. Coupled with the fact that these four tracks are concisely written, straightforward pop songs, Eat Sleep Attack comes loaded with mass appeal.
Put simply, Eat Sleep Attack is a worthwhile listen for anyone who appreciates a good pop song. Fallin’ could be a huge radio hit if heard by the right people, it’s what I’d imagine a song co-written by Craig David and Jason Mraz would sound like (and we all know ‘7 Days’ by the former was a belter). The remaining three tracks are just Sam and guitar, but at it’s most stripped down, Little’s songwriting ability shines through in its purest form. As for them being ‘cheesy’? Well whether you think that or not, you’ll be singing his choruses for days on end, regardless.
