Dinosaur Pile-Up – Growing Pains

By Andy

DINOSAUR PILE-UP have a massive name. No doubt about that. It sounds huge. Thankfully for them, they manage to live up to their name sake and provide twelve tracks of balls-to-the-walls straight up rock.

Whilst Dinosaur Pile-Up sounds is almost borderline plagiarism, it’s easily forgivable if you can think of ‘Growing Pains’ as being a revivalist album paving the way for a new wave of grunge. The main problem that dogs Dinosaur Pile-Up is that if you’ve ever heard a Foo Fighters album then you’ve already found your benchmark for this sound, done better.

Don’t take that as a negative as ‘Growing Pains’ is absolutely jam packed with great harmonies and catchy hooks (noticeably on ‘Barce-loner’ and first single ‘Mona Lisa’), but you’d be forgiven if at any point you wanted to sing “You make me break ouuuuuut”.
