It’s undoubted that Alexisonfire are one of the biggest bands in the ‘scene’ right now. They’ve seemingly built themselves up album by album – the right way – and now sit near to the top of the tree. Their popularity has allowed vocalist Dallas Green the opportunity to branch out from his hardcore roots into a solo acoustic artist, and while there’s absolutely no doubt how talented the chap is, this live record just bores me. Despite the fact Dallas has a great voice, this record really did just wash over me. While live records like this have worked in the past – Dashboard’s unplugged CD is incredible on so many levels – the songs here seem to blend into one another, there’s a lack of audience participation and, to be honest, I think it all comes across better on record than in a live setting.
I know many of Dallas’ fans will disagree, but I just found this a bit of a letdown.
