Calories – S/T

By paul

I’m not going to bother labelling Calories too much more than the Pop/Indie/Punk their MySpace states, but simply – the BSM/Small Town America trio make noise somewhere in the middle of the Good Shoes and something altogether more snappy.

Clocking in at just over ten minutes, this feels like a bit of a musical top up following a well received debut album earlier in the year, but that’s meant in the kindest way. Four to-the-point and clever songs always hit home better than seven or eight average ones ahead of a second album.

The opening brace are probably the stronger moments for sheer strength of chorus and the production on the EP is a bit scrappy in places, but the four short, sharp and shouty ventures into Calories‘ thankfully unformulaic brand of indie/punk have enough meat to keep people interested and get them out to shows.
