This is a tidy, if unspectacular, EP. Callum read can clearly write a tune but on this 8-tracker I found his voice really grated on me after a while. It’s kind of toneless, it doesn’t go up or down at all. The best acoustic artists have passion and emotion in abundance. You listen to early Dashboard Confessional and the power and raw emotion in his voice is what makes it stand out. I just don’t hear that same power in Callum’s voice. It makes tracks like ‘A Change of Pace’ a bit bland and dull when there’s clearly enough talent to do a bit better. It’s worth a listen if you like acoustic stuff, but it’s not as good as it probably should be.
