Bullet Union – Ruin’s Domino

By paul

I could give you the background speil on how Bullet Union is made up of ex-members of Dead Inside, or about how they sound a bit like Drive Like Jehu, but I’ll cut to the chase – these guys are fucking good. Perhaps it’s the creative and interesting guitar parts, or the passionate vocals. Maybe it’s the way they just mould everything together to create a din that makes you want to move your feet. I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is, but I like it. And coming from someone that usually doesn’t enjoy this style of music, that’s saying something.

Tracks like ‘Stay Indie, Don’t Be A Hater’ are punchy yet scything, with guitar riffs cutting through vocals like a knife through butter. ‘Close Circuit’ is a keeper too, with guitars bouncing off each other and Jodie Cox’s shrill keeping things on edge. The only minor letdown for me is the instrumental track, which while interesting and creative, kinda ruins the flow a little. Still, you can’t always get everything you wish for…
