With an impresive pedigree behind them – for older PT readers Arch Stanton are 60% Southpaw, 40% Dragline – it’s not difficult to see why this four track EP is so damn good. Drawing influences from the likes of Foo Fighters – and perhaps indirectly from the likes of Spitalfield and Reuben – the fivesome focus their sound around some belting vocal melodies and a couple of really riff-driven verses that will hook you in and leave you humming along. ‘Final Curse’ is a powerful opener and ‘Fashion Show’ a corking closer, but the two tracks in between are every bit as good. They remind me a lot of Day of Rising actually, perhaps a little more technical, but their intentions are simply plug in, play and rock out. And the end result is very impressive indeed. There are no frills here, this is just the good stuff.
