There’s no doubt All or Nothing are one of the most improved bands of 2008. They’ve gone from being Bigwig-wannabes playing insanely fast and twiddly skate punk to a band that’s progressed with their songwriting and become comfortable in their own skin. That’s been reflected in some of the more high profile gigs they’ve been part of and the fact they’re getting talked about on blogs and forums much more than they were at this time last year. But then it’s all deserved as the band took constructive criticism on the chin, widened their musical horizons and have since penned a bunch of really good songs. As me vs hero have done, the band take a little influence from Set Your Goals and Four Year strong but still have a strong enough identity of their own.
This three-tracker features odds and sods recently recorded for other releases. ‘I’m Not Being Rude…’ is the most SYG track of the three, but also features the strongest chorus and the strongest vocals. The guitars sound nice and beefy and the structure of the track works really well. It’s indicative of a band growing stronger as time ticks on. If the level of growth continues at this rate, 2009 will be a very good year indeed.
