ALGIERS, made up of members from DARTZ! and The Maple State, bring us their debut EP ‘Four Priests’ and it’s an indie-pop gem if there ever was one.
Kicking things off with ‘These January Versions’, ‘Four Priests’ goes from strength to strength. The aforementioned ‘These January Versions’ is the perfect opener – it’s familiar but different and allows the listener to get comfortable with the band before blowing you away with the rest of the EP.
‘To The Drunken Sailor Swaying’, ‘Uncover Me’ and title track ‘Four Priests’ are all brilliant chunks of indie-pop – fun, catchy and really bloody good. Closer ‘Northern Brute’ might be the best track on the record, featuring some great musicianship and a quasi quiet-loud verse chorus, and it leaves you wanting more.
Four Priests is a great little debut EP, showcasing what the band can do nicely and promising more to come. Algiers are definitely one to watch.
