Alamance – In The Moment

By paul

There’s a very ‘current’ sound to Alamance. The band is the brainchild of 19-year-old Josh Sorhagen and mixes a little electronica and a little pop-rock with some pretty big sounding choruses. At times it works quite well (‘Your Eyes‘), while at others it’s all a bit too ‘big’ sounding and never really hits the mark (‘Blaming You’). It’s quite an ambitious record for one so young and credit goes to producer Rob Freeman (Hit The Lights, Armor For Sleep, Cobra Starship) for making this sound very slick and seamless. The tracks with a little bit more pace and oomph are the better ones, the slower ones sound a little like 30 Seconds To Mars. I would imagine he will do quite well on the other side of the pond, but there’s more work to be done, for me anyway, before Alamance make the grade.
