This lot are a ska/reggae act without the sillyness that deluged the ska scene in the late 90s. There’s no slapstick Reel Big Fish moments or Mad Caddies-esque songs about Monkeys. This is just good old-fashioned ska punk with the emphasis on both the ska and the punk. The thing is, it’s just not a style of music I enjoy anymore. And while I know loads of you will be reading this thinking ‘then why are you reviewing it?’, the truth is it’s ended up in my pile and seeing as though the label has the deceny to send me a copy, the least I can do is give it a little breath of publicity. Rolling Stone described this record as ‘barbecue music’, which is surprisingly apt. And at least it’s better than lift music. My advice? Go listen on myspace and make up your own mind.
