Aceface – One

By

There is a delightful feel of the old school to Aceface from the moment the first chord is struck on ‘Oxbridge Boys’. Rather like being shoved back into the early eighties – minus the mascara and leather trousers – Aceface take great delight in attempting to propel the feel of more down to earth gutter punk in the listeners face and shy away from easy options that many bands use as a get out clause.

While the aforementioned opener is a chant fuelled, beer soaked paradise for anyone looking for a bit of nostalgia in their punk, follow up (I do apologize but I lost the album sleeve…) proves the slightly meatier track as the pace and attitude is lessened but proves more fulfilling as a whole. Its all performed with a crusty edge to it with the production less than savory, but the feel it gives the record adds to the overall atmosphere of the two tracks on offer. For those who detest the state of modern punk, Aceface may prove a nice alternative.
