Above This Fire – In Perspective

By paul

This record is pretty good, yet I find myself with not that much to say about it. Above This Fire formed in Cleveland, Ohio, five years ago and this record integrates the energy of a Strike Anywhere with the power of a Comeback Kid, or maybe even Bane. It’s hardcore without being macho and metal without being pompous. The in-yer-face vocal stylings that litter this record are full on and furious, making songs like ‘Miles Apart’ and ‘City Of Locust’ arms aloft anthems in waiting. ‘In Perspective’ is certainly a passionate record and the level of musicianship is extremely high too. Yet the 10 songs here just can’t inspire me to write a few hundred words – it’s not to say this isn’t good, because it is, it’s just nothing inspirational. So there you have it, well worth checking out but nothing to change the world.
