A Page Of Punk – ‘Fool’s Punk Line’

By Tom Aylott

1234! 1234! If you subscribe to the notion of “everything louder and faster than everything else”, then you’ll most likely enjoy the shit out of the latest A Page Of Punk release – featuring 49 new songs and released by Drunken Sailor Records in the UK to fit with their August 2013 UK tour.

The band hail from Tokyo, and though you’ll probably have trouble picking the tracks apart at first because they’re all so short and fast (and you’ll hear “1234 1234!” A LOT), there’s little doubt that it’s one of the most fun you’ll have with a punk release this year.

It’s hard to really nail down what bands to compare them to, as they freewheel between different types of punk from each track to the next, but fans of all kinds of scrappy indie punk will find loads to love. There’s little doubt that they’re excellent at what they do as well – they navigate between each track without so much as linking – and fitting 49 songs on one album is basically ridiculous, so fair play to them for that.

If you fancy a taste of Japanese punk – raw, fast, loud and completely over-the-top – then look absolutely no further than this collection from A Page Of Punk. Bound to wind a load of people who take themselves too seriously up, but isn’t that entirely the point anyway? Great stuff.
