“‘Deep Sleep’ as a video conveys the battle of addiction and temptation; literally in the form of alcoholism, or something else entirely based on perspective. Drug abuse, codependency, self medication, whatever it takes to find respite in a depressive or anxious reality. That solution or “fix” is portrayed in the siren character. For the wandering male lead, it is the only option, the only path that leads to a salvation without despair, in her embrace. Even if it means the end for him, he cant resist the cure, allowing her to pull him beneath the surface, finally at peace. He wakes, stunned to realize that it was only a dream; a temporary escape. Where does he go from here?”

This melodiously hook laden tune of mid tempo punk soundtracks the band’s trip to The Fest last year in Florida. It captures all of their fun antics on tape. “We went to Florida last year,” explains the band, “And we realised we had to shoot a video of something that was likely to be a once in a life time opportunity. We panicked and came up with this. Starring: Toyboy Tins, Julius Biggons, The Real Beal, Eggs n’ Ham and Jason Cavalier. The song is about our love of Marlboro Lights.”

‘Lights’ is the opening track from Honey Joy’s debut self-titled album, which was released last year on Everything Sucks Music (UK/EU) and Infinity Cat Recordings (US). You can purchase the record here. The band will also be playing the following UK/European shows with Fresh later this week.

Myrkur will also be joining them at the top of the bill, with the Danish multi-instrumentalist performing an exclusive solo show. Exploding following the release of the Ulver-produced ‘M’ on Relapse, this show will be more akin to her ‘Mausoleum’ album – a more stripped back affair, touching on the beauty that partners the ferocity of her full band.

Some of the UK’s finest provide a stellar supporting cast as the day delves into math-rock, electronica, stoner and straight up punk rock.

Indoor venues are running outside of the main ticket this year, so we’ll have a mere £2 door charge as a fringe event (you don’t need a ticket for the main event). There are no advance tickets, but anyone clicking “attend” will have their name on the door to ensure guaranteed entry before 6 p.m. You can pick up wristbands anytime from 2 p.m, beyond 6 p.m, and Oathbreaker will finish just before 11 p.m so that anyone heading out of Sheffield can catch public transport home.

We can exclusively announce that Title Fight and Cold World will be playing an intimate show in Canterbury, Kent as part of their forthcoming UK tour. The Kingston, PA band will play the 250 capacity Marlow Studio on Tuesday May 5th, and will be joined by Cosmic Thoughts, Allfather, and Landspeed.

South London newcomers Petrol Girls are to release their debut EP on 20th March. The band include residents of Astbury Castle, the house show institution in Peckham that has seen many a touring band pass through – and the band will play a release show there on 21st March.
