New pop punk festival launching in York this summer

Starring American hardcore punk rockers A Wilhelm Scream, and one of the only 2018 UK appearances from Teenage Bottlerocket, plans have just been announced for a new festival launching in 2018 called “Pile Up Festival”.

Hosted at Fibbers, the two-day event is running on Friday June 22nd and Saturday June 23rd, with a possible special 3rd date added if tickets sell out before March, with weekend ticket buyers getting the exclusive third day for free.

Metalcore giants Oceans Ate Alaska, and UK rising stars Napoleon are in main support on the Saturday. And York locals will haves something to shout about, as hometown heroes InVisions are complementing the line-up. On Sunday Our Hollow Our Home, Silent Screams and Siamese are all on the bill.

As well as giving music fans a new festival in the North East, organisers Riff Media are also aiming to help the local homeless, by pledging that profits will be used to purchase supplies and goods to help those in need.

Teenage Bottlerocket bassist Miguel Chen has announced that he will be releasing a new book early next year, entitled ‘I Wanna Be Well: How a Punk Found Peace and You Can Too’.

Chen has described it as a self-help book of sorts, which will be released on the 18th February via Wisdom Publications. It can be pre-ordered here.

Earlier in the summer, Teenage Bottlerocket released the covers album ‘Stealing the Covers’ and their latest EP ‘Goin’ Back to Wyo’ via Fat Wreck Chords.

Teenage Bottlerocket have premiered a video for their cover of The Punchlines’ ‘Why the Big Pause’ at Uproxx.

It is featured on the Wyoming pop punks’ upcoming new album, ‘Stealing the Covers’. The record sees the band covering songs by various small and underground bands they’ve played with over their career. It will be released on the 14th July via Fat Wreck Chords.

Teenage Bottlerocket have announced the release of their upcoming new two track 7″, ‘Goin’ Back to Wyo’.

Featuring two new original songs, this will be released on 14th July alongside the band’s upcoming covers album, ‘Stealing the Covers’. Both records will be put out by Fat Wreck Chords. You can view the Wyoming pop punks’ rendition of Sprocket Nova’s ‘RoboCop Is a Halfbreed Sellout’ from the album below.

Face to Face release video for new song, ‘Say What You Want’

Face to Face recently unveiled a video for their new song, ‘Say What You Want’, at Uproxx.

The track is taken from an upcoming double A-side single, which also features a previously unreleased song from their recording sessions for 2016 ninth album ‘Protection’, entitled ‘I, Me, Mine’. This will be released on the 5th May via Fat Wreck Chords and will coincide with the Cali punks’ 25th anniversary.

The band will also be playing the following UK shows this August with Pennywise, Good Riddance and Teenage Bottlerocket.

Pop punk came to San Diego in full force on a recent Friday night, when three bands invaded the Soda Bar. Teenage Bottle Rocket came for their first local show since the untimely death of drummer Brandon Carlisle a year and a half ago. The Mr. T Experience is continuing their pattern of short localised tours since the release of their first new album in over a decade. And the same was true for Colorado’s Nobodys, a band active in the latter half of the 1990s that’s back with new material and a new record.

Teenage Bottlerocket have announced that they’ll be releasing a new album, entitled ‘Stealing the Covers’, on the 14th July.

The record’s title is in reference to it being a covers album. The Wyoming pop punks will be covering tracks from various small and underground bands they’ve played with over their career. It follows up their 2015 sixth album ‘Tales from Wyoming’ and will be their first release following their re-signing to Fat Wreck Chords earlier this year. You can view the announcement video for it below.

The band will also be playing the following UK shows this August with Pennywise, Face to Face and Good Riddance.

Teenage Bottlerocket to open for Pennywise at London headline show

Teenage Bottlerocket have been confirmed to open for Pennywise at their upcoming headline show at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London on the 4th August.

They’ll also be joining Good Riddance and Face to Face on the bill. The show precedes all four bands’ appearances at Blackpool’s Rebellion Festival, which takes place from the 3rd to the 6th August.

The Wyoming punks recently re-signed to Fat Wreck Chords to work on their follow up to 2015’s ‘Tales from Wyoming’, which is due for a summer release.

Teenage Bottlerocket to continue with new drummer

Teenage Bottlerocket have confirmed that they will continue, welcoming a new drummer into the fold following the untimely death of Brandon Carlisle.

“Since the sudden passing of our brother, best friend, drummer and founding member Brandon Carlisle there has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not TBR would go on,” the band announced in a lengthy statement.

“Brandon was one of a kind, an incredible drummer, a passionate punk rocker and one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. We miss him every day. The outpouring of love and support from all over the world has been amazing and we know wherever Brandon is he knows how much he is loved, how much of an impact he had on so many.”

The statement, available to read in full, goes on to welcome seasoned drummer Darren Chewka. Teenage Bottlerocket also posted a video introducing Chewka.
