“The man is a legend and I think it is perhaps my favourite interview so far,” exclaims podcast creator and host, Mark Fraser.

The interview discusses MacKay’s Dischord Records, the punk scene, anger and violence.

“Needless to say, I was humbled by the experience of chatting to him. He’s like a wise punk rock sage,” Fraser adds.

The trailer for ‘Salad Days: The Birth of Punk Rock in the Nation’s Capital’ has emerged.

‘Salad Days…’ is a documentary focusing on Washington, D.C.’s 80s hardcore scene.

This is the scene that spawned seminal bands such as Bad Brains, Rites of Spring, Minor Threat and Fugazi, and labels such as Dischord and Teen Beat.

The film is the result of a Kickstarter campaign launched by music journalist Scott Crawford.

Crawford wrote and directed the documentary that features interviews with Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat/Fugazi), H.R. (Bad Brains), Henry Rollins (SOA/Black Flag), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth).

Crawford will be hosting a celebration of the film on 28th December at the Black Cat in Washington, D.C. (naturally), featuring DC punk legends Dag Nasty (original line-up), Government Issue, Black Market Baby and Kingface.
