The Drive Thru Invasion Tour Compilation, Various Artists
Drive Thru have released a new sampler for the UK, and seeing as though a lot of kids will buy this I thought I'd review it report card stylee...so here goes:
Rx Bandits - Decrescendo
Works really hard and brings a sense of originality to class, but his effort of late has not been as effective as it could be. This latest submission of work is a good solid example of the ability the pupil posesses but doesn't match up to some of their excellent submissions earlier on. The ability is there, they just need to be more consistent. B+
The Early November - Something That Produces Results
The pupil has really excelled himself in this subject. The latest example of work was his best yet and he should be extremely proud. There's a hint of maturity in the work and an edge that hasn't been there in previous years. I look forward to more of his work in the near future. A
The Movielife - Kelly Song
I was sad to learn that he has decided to drop this subject in future because I thought he had a decent career forged ahead of him. Again the last piece of work suggested there was plenty to more to come, but I guss if we can't change his mind we shall have to accept it. B+
Senses Fail - Bite To Break Skin
The effort that this pupil has put in really shows, and you cannot fault the energy and enthusiasm put into the work. Unfortunately, despite a good technique, I see elements of other peoples work in this and a lack of originality doesn't make it stand out alongside the work of other pupils. Still, the effort is there and this must be appluaded. B-
Hidden In Plain View - Twenty Below
The pupil does not seem to have grasped many of the basic concepts of the work that has been studied. He appears to be often in a day dream and get easily confused. I know he has scored well in other areas, but I do not think the work created here will make much impact later in life. C-
The Starting Line - the Night Life
This pupil is a pleasure to work with. Curteous and charming, he works hard with a touch of flair. Will go fair if he keeps this work effort up. A
Steel Train - Alley Cat
Despite working hard it is quite clear that he does not have the talent to suceed in this line of work. I expect he will be told to drop this subject soon. D
Allister - Overrated
The work created by this pupil is the epitome of fun and reflects the good times they have putting their coursework together. Often the class joker, with a bit more maturity he could really forge a future in this chosen field, if he so chooses. Has a tendency to throw a hissy fit and has left class once or twice, but always comes back... B
Homegrown - Tomorrow
A lot of the work created here has been copied from other people, but done so with a panashe that is not often seen. I'm not sure if he has a career ahead of him in this subject, but he is a nice, thoughful pupil with plenty of friends and admirers. B-
