Warped Tour 2006, Various Artists

On the face of it - 50 tracks, two CDs and a host of different styles - this should be a great release. Sadly, it's not. I found this record, the ninth Warped-related compilation, to be by far the worst in the series, going for quantity rather than quality and letting the franchise name down in the process. Being value for money - and in a way this release offers a lot for very little - is one thing, but of the 50 tracks there's maybe only a dozen here worth your time and money.
The exclusives from Underoath and Flogging Molly are worth the budget price alone, and NOFX, Motion City Soundtrack, Moneen and Saves The Day all offer good songs too - albeit only if you haven't already bought their albums. But there's way too much filler here for my liking. The dreadful Royden and I Am Ghost shouldn't ever be allowed near a CD again, while Escape The Fate and Roses Are Red are only slightly better. There's nothing wrong with wanting to offer value for money and 50 tracks for about £7 should be a bargain. But with my fingers reaching for the skip trigger all too often, this is probably one compilation you should miss out on this summer.
