Look North - a compilation of bands from the north, Various Artists
Another home-made DIY compilation on a CD-R, this time made up of bands from the north of England. There are 18 bands on this one, so I'm going to give each band and song a one line review:
Loud Mouth - Friends Like You; bit of gruff, yet melodic, punk rock which sadly is let down by a bad recording job.
Plan Your Exit - Emotional Static; generic scream-a-thon which lacks the power to make an impression.
The Blitz - Silver Screen; Eurgh. Rubbish.
Forgotten Roots - Ghetto; They sound like a bad local band with an even worse 'singer'.
Team Dave - Ami; Lo-fi acoustic with powerful vocals like The New Amsterdams.
Chacma - Silence; Originally from Poland but still rubbish.
Duma - Smile; Crap metal.
The Botem Feeders - Anonymous surfer; Very, very average
Lasso The Moon - Dm; Call themselves skemo, but sound more like slightly better than average pop-ska.
The Blitz - Girl from the 80s; Only marginally better than their other song on this CD.
D-M-E - Angry at the world; Another acoustic track, quite probably the best song here.
Forgotten Roots - Drunk if I'm sorry; Compared to their other track this is genius, but it's still not very good.
Chacma - Corridors of hypocricy; I think they want to be Pantera.
Duma - I ask; Yuk.
Loudmouth - Our Time Will Come; Oddly this sounds nothing like the other band with the same name on this CD...
Plan Your Exit - Warn Gabriel Lucifes still alive; I'm still not convinced by this lot, but this song is marginally better than the other one.
Team Dave - Please Matt...; Acoustic track which borrows from The Get Up Kids and Jawbreaker and isn't half bad.
Lasso The Moon - Window Lickin'; They're possibly the most consistent band on here, bar the acoustic acts.
