Protect: A Benefit For The Natl. Association To Protect Children, Various Artists
Charity CDs are a cracking idea - not only are they for a good cause but often they contain rare or new tracks from a variety of excellent bands. Fat's newest CD - which hopes to raise cash by handing all profits from this release to a US children's charity - is a belter because it's not only for a good cause, but also because there are plenty of excellent songs here. And they're not restricted to the Fat Wreck roster either, with MxPx and Matt Skiba throwing in brand new efforts that stand out.

In total, there are 15 previously unreleased tracks out of the 26 total which is value for money in anyone's book. Against Me! and NOFX have quality tracks here, Avail's Tim Barry shows a different side to his day job and including Joey Cape and Teenage Bottlerocket are nice touches. Oh yeah, and Smoke or Fire have an absolute standout on here too. To be fair, there aren't too many bad songs at all, making this worthy of all of your hard earned pennies.
