100% Rockstar, Cape
I’m struggling whether or not to take Cape serious or not. Their review started on 5 out of 5 before the CD had even started playing simply because their press release a free “100% Rockstar” badge for my mesh cap. (Note: Punktastic has been and always will be open to bribes*)

So anyway back to the music, are this band intending to be tongue in cheek The Darkness style or not? The lyrics to opening track “100% Rockstar” would certainly indicate this with the over indulgent - “I’m the singer in that band you love…” maybe it’s just a poor attempt to win over groupies or more a band who are based on their image… either way this track is less than impressive, sadly for me who is listening to the whole E.P, it happens to be the best.

Track 2 proves to me that this release is neither “Punk” or “Fantastic” so how it ended up here is unknown, next thing you know, I’ll be reviewing the next Travis or Sean Paul CD. Despite the genre issue, Cape have obviously worked hard at this CD, it’s not ground breaking nor is it original to sell to masses of people. Most people will know a mate in a band like this, and prefer to buy their CD than Capes. This is merely a basic “rock n roll” record. It touches on some “confused rock star” lyrics and issues such as leaving a boring old town, (“Getaway”) and an infamous “leaving somebody you hate” type track (“B-Side”)

After four songs and 13 minutes, I’m still awaiting the “heavy riffology” as promised in the bands biography and I’m starting to seriously dislike the vocalists style. In general this record bores me - it’s a dull, unimaginative effort which probably won’t amount to much but a few sales to mates and mates’ mates and parties and local shows.
