45 RPM - Single, The Poppy Fields
Much to my amazement as I was doing the washing up, I heard this very single being played on Radio One. Yes the Radio One. The young four piece managed to chart at number 28 in the national charts, which is mighty impressive as I simply dismissed the single instantly as being unable to crack the top 40. But they proved me wrong, and to be fair it is no great surprise, as it is thanks to this impressive single that I eagerly await their debut album to be released in March.

It starts off with a distinctively retro filled riff as the distinct vocals take over and lead into what is a solid upbeat single to make even the most discordant punk fan take notice. The verses are smooth, the chorus has a distinctivley 70's feel and makes you want to punch the air in rebellion which all adds up to a solid and enjoyable three minutes which is worth a trip down to your local music retailer for.
