Demo #1, HiTechJet
Uxbridge based HiTechJet have come a long way in a very short period of time. They have toured with UK bands such as Jerry Built and The Killerest Expression, and received much praise for their first demo. Subsequently the band were brought to the attention of In At The Deep End Records and have their debut seven track mini album due to be released soon. We’ve had the demo kicking around the punktastic offices for some time, and decided we best get it reviewed before the aforementioned mini album rears its head!

HiTechJet’s demo consists of three tracks of melodic punk rock, and is a cut above any other demo I’ve heard in the last year. The first thing that strikes you is just how good the demo sounds. You would think from the obvious strengths of the band that they had been together for sometime, and that this was a label release, but its not. Having two vocalists with differing styles is a big plus for the band, as they are able to vary to the style of songs with little difficulty.

‘The Score’ kicks thing off in fine style. It is a supremely melodic slice of punk rock, that sees a number of influences melded seamlessly together. Catchy, and very musically proficient, its gives a good indication of what the band are capable of, as well as showcasing the differing extremes of the vocalists. ‘If my best is not enough’ is a touch slower, but still maintains the melody and the powerful lyrics. The final track, ‘All this time’, is the heaviest of the three, particularly on the chorus, and adds another string to the bands bow.

This is a superb demo from a band that really are capable of producing something special with the right tools behind them. If HiTechJet can write songs that sound as good as this on a demo, imagine what their forthcoming mini album will sound like…
