Oh Deer EP, Firebrand Boy
They tell me this type of music is Chiptune. I have no idea what that is mind you, to me it sounds as if it should be some kind of chipmunk-inspired music. Like Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Do, do, do, do, do, do. And all that.

Anyway, this five-tracker has been released on Pixel Pop Records and is a kind of electronica/guitar mix. It ain't 'punk' I know that, but can only assume this is what the kids listen to nowadays. Suffice to say, I don't get it. 'Loud 54' just beeps and bips for a few minutes. 'In The Warm Mid Night' beeps and bips a bit more. Just layers of repetitive samples which are all one-paced. Too slow to be dancey, not hyper enough to be rave. I'm not sure really what the appeal is...I waited and waited for songs to get going and they never do. It's like any second the song will burst into life but it's all a bit dull and lifeless.

This is my first foray into 'chiptune' and, hopefully, it will be my last.
