Definitions, Farewell To Freeway
imageI started off really liking this album, but realised after a few listens that Farewell To Freeway really suffer from a bit of a genre crisis. They just don't know who to sound like or how to find their own niche. While there are elements of metal, hardcore and even some pop-punk in there at times, this record comes across as messy, scruffy and confusing. From the He Is Legend-esque dirty metal riffs of 'Bat Wings' to the far poppier 'Speak You Words', 'Definitions' is never a bad album, it just suffers from switching sounds far too often. And while the melodic bits could lead to breakout success, in my eyes this isn't consistent enough to warrant long term listening.
