Society Street Anthems, Seconds Out
I find street punk a really restrictive - and ultimately dull - genre. Sweeping generalisation alert but the demos we receive of this type tend to be from rebellious public school boys with their greased up mohawks and facial piercings singing faux-Sex Pistols tunes to a backdrop of double timed drums and aggressive vocals. I'm just not convinced by any band who wants to sing about prisons being overcrowded or how the monarchy is a waste of time. And the riffs, well I can listen to a Rancid (or any hellcat release for that matter) album and hear better versions.

Seconds Out fall into the trap of mimmicking their influences. I don't know if they're public schoolboys or if they have mohawks, but their tired, turgid riffs and lyrics just make for a boring EP which smacks of all the usual elements. It ticks all the right boxes, including gang vocals and rebellious lyrics, but does little to stir any emotions at all.
