Available For Children's Parties, Lavondyss
Technically Lavondyss are incredible. Some of the shredding in 'Crash!' will literally melt your face off. There's about a minute long riff that just begs to be put on Guitar Hero IV. Seriously good stuff. So I feel a bit bad for saying that while you cannot help but admire the audacity of some of the guitar work and go 'wow' at the way the band try and push the envelope in a Fall Of Troy-esque manner, it's just a bit messy and all over the place for me, like the band are trying a bit too hard to fuck with your mind. The vocals switch from melodic to death-defying screams in the blink of an eye, but that's now a bit old hat and they're not in the same league as the lead guitar work. And while at times the band are way too overblown for their own good ( the first 20 seconds of 'Escape From Disneyland' is way too much for me) they show so much musical talent that if they can calm themselves down a bit and tone things down a tad they could be really promising.
