The Zone EP, Enter Shikari
Talk about cashing in...

Yes, I know, I'm going to get ravaged by the hundreds of thousands of Enter Shikari fans around the world for slagging off their precious band but I don't care. Yes, it's been a great year for them - 100,000 UK sales, headlining Brixton Academy and a string of high-profile festival slots. But that doesn't mean they can get away with ripping off their legion of fans with a release such as this.

For those living under a rock, 'The Zone' EP is eight tracks which didn't make the album. However, the original versions of four of these songs did feature on the album, meaning for the £14.99 RRP (£7.99 on play.com) you're getting four 'new' songs. And even then these four tracks have been floating about the internet for quite some time. For a band that's made their name off the back of a rabid internet fanbase, it's pretty dispicable to stoop so low, especially at Christmas time when pre-teens are writing their letters to Santa, simply to grab a few extra quid while the fad is hot. And it's not even if the band can blame their money grabbing corporate label, after all, they've also made a very big deal about how they run their own affairs with their own Ambush Reality imprint.

Fair play that the band has done things themselves and done very well for it, but a cash-in such as this takes the piss. If you're an ardent fan you'll have these tracks anyway. Avoid it. Maybe then it will stop bands and labels ripping off and taking the piss out of their 'fans'.
