One For The Good Guys, Static Radio NJ
My typing fingers have become accustomed to writing work for imaginary secondary school kids of late, so it's refreshing to find some tasty looking releases for me to pick through when I find myself with a minute. And Static Radio NJ are no exception.

Playing things pretty strictly by the New Jersey playbook, One For The Good Guys offers a very modern and straight up take on what it's like to be in the Kid Dynamite 101 class of 2007. Still, it's more than varied enough to hold my interest. There are some nice big choruses here, but cleverly underplayed so that you're not feeling like you're genre-switching halfway through a song. Which can annoy.

Some of the songs fall smack in the middle of the "play it fucking faster!" school of thought and remind of Propagandhi in more than a couple of places. But there are a couple of marginally less harsh tracks here and 'All The Same', for instance, settles into a slowed down and polished anthem and brings to mind memories of The Bouncing Souls' latest album. A subsequent look at the press details reveal that TBS originally released this as a 7", which obviously came as no great surprise.

Over before you know it, with only one song tipping the two minute mark, but you'll spin it straight through three or four times. Trust me on that one.
