Rewind, Ashton
imageThe best bit about PT is when you discover a brand new band out of nowhere that knocks your socks off with their sheer class. When Ashton's album 'Rewind' landed on my doormat I had no expectations for it at all, so it was refreshing to be bowled over with an indie-rock sound that is part Jimmy Eat World and part Park, one of my favourite bands over the last fewe years. Park were criminally underrated and unsigned Ashton certainly bear a musical resemblance to them, especially on tracks like 'Victim Of A So Called Tragedy'.

'Rewind' is a great little album. It's full of powerful rock songs and driving guitars. There are punchy vocals and catchy choruses throughout this record. The band easily switch from the more driving tracks to something altogether more serene and their adaptability is to be admired. 'Surrender' is slower but every bit as good, while 'Conversations' and 'Play/Rewind/Repeat' both remind me of Park in terms of each song's structure.

For every crappy My Chem or Atreyu rip-off that gets you down, a gem of a band like Ashton comes out of nowhere to re-ignite your faith and belief in good music. Ashton don't re-invent the wheel, they just play great music. Check them out before they're classed as the next big thing.
