Vital Signs, A Day Called Desire
Birmingham's A Day Called Desire have managed to work their way onto the Casket roster, primarily off the fact their vocalist sounds a little like Claudio Sanchez doing Davey Havok impressions. I'm guessing that has to be the stand out point because ADCD, while reasonably good at what they do, don't stand out that much musically and the four songs on this EP just sound a bit like AFI and Coheed b-sides. They're not bad, they're just not that good either. The only saving grace is the vocal style, which (while a little borrowed) is different from most sound-a-likes and makes for an interesting listen, spicing up what would probably be quite a dull and generic record otherwise. They have quite a few myspace friends so I guess this EP may take them up to the next level, but for me you can take it or leave it.
