The Inspiration, It Prevails
imageToo many of these haircut hardcore bands are peddling the same old shit, so much so that whenever one of them pops into my stereo I'm very close to immediately dismissing it as the bag of wank the genre is rapidly becoming. But every so often a band and album comes along that makes me realise that not every band is insistent on pushing out the same old crap and It Prevails, who mix metal riffs with poppy breakdowns and, well a few generic shouts, pass the test by beaing better than most. They don't re-invent the wheel, but they do it better than a lot of bands and for that reason they get a decent score.

Songs like 'The Distance', with its crushing guitar riffs and over the top growls, are great little songs, especially for a reviewer that tuned in with little to no expectations. Then there's the drum patterns of 'Change Today' which make the song, a little A Day To Remember, whose album also recently rocked my socks. At times the band sound like Beloved, at others Misery Signals, and while their potion is hardly complicated, sometimes the best things in life are simple. And it's It Prevails' simplicity and their ability to rock the fuck out which makes 'The Inspiration' a great listen.
