The Boy In The Corner, dbsixtyeight
imagedbsixtyeight describe themselves as 'Elvis Costello having an orgy with The Cars whilst directed by The Rentals and filmed by Greenday' which I don't think is particularly accurate at all, save for The Rentals-esque synth. Vocally there are hints of Weezer - especially during 'Is That A Code?' - but primarily DB68 sound like a steady-as-she-goes rock band with keys and synth, hardly an exciting, new prospect seeing as though the scene is awash with similar bands, but in fairness they do what they do to a relatively high standard.

There's a Motion City Soundtrack-esque feel to the keys, although the band themselves don't match up energy-wise, so the band come across as sounding a little like a few bands rather than a carbon copy of one. 'Kill Dance Kill' would probably sound better with an injection of pace and energy and while it's certainly a god song, I think it suffers slightly from plodding along rather than being a bit more in your face. That said, this is a highly competent and polished effort and if you like your music to feature synths, keys and some killer choruses, dbsixtyeight could be the band for you.
