Keep It Going, Mad Caddies
imageI used to really like Mad Caddies. Back in their 'Quality Softcore' days, they were probably my favourite ska-influenced band. Now they're a lot more diverse, with 'Rock The Plank' showcasing pirate-core and this new album seeped in reggae influences. In the main, 'Keep It Going' is a great listen - 'The Dirge' is classic Caddies, fast and frenetic in a way only they can do it. 'State of Mind' and 'Without You' are top tunes too, showing the band haven't forgotten how to write a great song.

Overall, however, this album is a lot more laid back than their previous efforts. 'Lay Your Head Down' starts off slowly, while 'Reflections' is as languid as the band have ever been. There's even a cover of Delroy Wilson's classic reggae tune 'Riding For A Fall'. While I prefer Mad Caddies when they're a little more full on, this is still a good listen. The band continue to evolve and show their influences, keeping their music interesting and relevant and that has to be applauded. There's enough here to attract new fans as well as keep long-standing ones entertained.
