Whoever wrote this review which features on The Obstacle Race's bio needs to pull their head from out of their arse. "Charismatic frontman Louis Greenwood melodically articulates his modern poetry with gentle audacity, his delivery a stellar completion to the wonderfully introspective look at the beauty, eccentricities, frustrations and complications of relationships."

Does anyone else smell bullshit?

Regardless of the pathetic and unneccessary waffle that actually makes me want to dislike the band, The Obstacle Race are pretty good. With a lo-fi sound that reminds me of Jaime T fronting The Maple State (minus the keys), the band deserve credit for sticking to a very low budget sound and coming across effectively. Opening track 'All The Kings Horses and Men' is a little Bloc Party-esque, while the following 'The Hilton vs The Ritz' generously borrows a The Maple State guitar part. But the band put the elements together successfully - the handclaps in track one are a delight, the gang vocals in track two are sublime.

There's a definite sense of deja vu and I hear a lot of The Maple State in this band, but there's obvious talent and I think we'll be hearing more from them in the future.
