Glitter in the Gutter, Jesse Malin
imageTruth be told, this album is more interesting for the number of celebrity guests Jesse Malin has managed to rope into helping out on this record. Bruce Springsteen, Jakob Dylan, Josh Homme, Ryan Adams and Chris Shiflett handle guest duties, which is infinitely more interesting than this very slick pop-rock record, that is about as punk rock as Busted or McFly.

That said, it's released on Adeline, a record more associated with punk than pop, hence why it's got a mini review here. And while a couple of the very slick pop songs here are ultimately made for radio singles, the likes of 'Tomorrow Tonight' and 'Lucinda' are very, very dull indeed. Jesse sure has a fine voice, and he sure knows how to write a song, but if Chad Kroger had a much warmer, more inviting voice you could mistake this for a more upbeat Nickelback. And that ain't so hot...
