Leave Tonight Behind, Blast Stereos Loud
Staffordshire's Blast Stereos Loud play a spikey blend of pop-punk that has a slightly harder, metallic edge. A band that's gone through some major line-up changes this year, this three-tracker is almost the re-birth of a band that had previously released 2 EPs under the same name. The two new members - on drums and bass- add the harder edge, so while the band have the faster skate-punk elements within their sound, there's a new heavier edge too. And tracks like the EP's title song sound all the better for it, even if the production's not quite as thick as it could be.

The other two tracks showcase promise, and while the band have clearly managed blast off on the launch pad, it's a little too soon to know if their orbit will result in successful re-entry. 'A Hollywood Ending' is catchy and crunchy, if a little generic, while 'Forever Failed Today' reminded me of old-school Finch with the guitar lines, although the vocals are more like The Starting Line. While the band's sound is more an amalgamation of groups that were doing well three or four years ago, this EP is on the right lines and suggests the band could be ones to watch.
