Once in a while a band comes out of nowhere and just re-ignites all of my enthusiasm for great music. We get a lot of very poor demos here at Punktastic - a lot of bands who shouldn't be a band, a lot of records that sound crap. But day Of Rising are the real deal - I'd go as far as saying this is the best demo I've heard in months and months. The band formed in Castellon, Spain in 2000 and after various line-up changes have managed to support the likes of Brandtson, Elliot and Last days of April. A swift move to London earlier this year has seen the band receive kudos from Total Rock, MSN and Kerrang - and it's really not hard to see why.

With a driving post-rock sound that's more akin to a Jimmy Eat World/Foo Fighters cross, Day of Rising have singalong hooks oozing out of every track. And while there's only three here, each one is a brilliant slab of pop-rock. The crunchy production sounds great, the guitars are creative and the vocals brilliant. 'High Hopes and Empty Homes' sounds absolutely huge, while 'Press Your Eyes and Taste the Light' has a Spitalfield-vibe to it. After just three tracks I'm desperate to hear more - infact on first listen to the very first song I stopped what I was doing and listened intently. And I never do that on the first listen to a CD.

In short, this is fantastic stuff. Check them out - I guarantee we'll be hearing a lot more in 2007.
