Three Track Demo, July Rising
July Rising's vocalist Joe does a very good Foo Fighters impression. And while his band rock out in a similar - but not too similar way - I have a feeling young Joe's vocal style is always going to attract a Big Dave comparison. This three track demo is perfectly good for what it is - a well produced, well rounded trio of tracks which stand out from many demos we receive. It's nothing new - and as I mentioned the Foos influence is very clear and obvious - but July Rising do their thing well and should be commended. 'Break Your Name' is arguably the band's best song, a slow burner which eventually erupts with a memorable chorus, and this is something the band try and trademark throughout. While there's still a little bit of work to be done, this is a more than solid starting point.
