Unicorn, WhoresWhoresWhores
According to the bio on the Seduction Records website, this mob are a 'Leeds four-piece playing original, left-field rock, influenced by the likes of the Locust, Daughters, Fear Before the March of Flames, Botch and Festival of Dead Deer'. Which, to be fair, is a pretty accurate description. 'Unicorn', which features some slightly trippy cover art, is 10 songs and just 17 minutes in length, so it never has the chance to outstay its welcome. Which is just as well, because the aural assault on your ears becomes a little too much towards the end. While WWW are not a one-trick pony, their twists, screams and overall noise becomes a little disconcerting after a while. While The Locust are spazz-core at its finest - often so downright strange you just have to admire it - WhoresWhoresWhores don't quite manage to be so downright odd or quirky, instead relying on being noisy to make their point. There are several good songs here mind, and I can imagine this lot are extremely entertaining live, but it's a couple of songs too long for my liking.
