There's No Sympathy For The Dead, Escape the Fate
Escape The Fate have enjoyed a pretty meteoric rise. Having formed from the remnants of another group, the five-piece outfit played their first live show after barely a month, and then followed a support slot with My Chemical Romance by getting signed to Epitaph. ‘There’s No Sympathy for the Dead’ is the band’s debut release, an EP of five songs.

The band have so far garnered comparisons to the likes of Underoath, Senses Fail and Taking Back Sunday and it’s not hard to see why. Escape The Fate basically mix elements of pop-punk/emo with metal. Anyone familiar with this mix of music will know what to expect: melodic vocals, screamed vocals, infectious choruses and metal riffs. There is nothing new in what this band do, but this is still a competent and pretty enjoyable release. Tracks like ‘The Ransom’ and ‘As You’re falling down’ help to raise this above most of the sub standard fare currently doing the rounds.

If you like any of the mentioned bands above, chances are you will enjoy this effort from Escape The fate. There is definitely a lot of promise here and it will be interesting to see if the band can fulfill their potential on their forthcoming full-length…
